Closing the 3D Print Waste Loop at Camberwell College of Arts
Research Question: How can Camberwell College of Arts develop an effective system for capturing and recycling 3D print waste at a departmental and campus scale?
Project Overview: As a specialist technician in both Sculpture and Computational Arts at Camberwell College of Arts, I am working to evaluate, research, design and implement a circular system that captures, reprocesses, reuses and/or recycles 3D print waste (failed prints, support structures, rafts and misprints) into reusable forms such as filament and plastic sheets. This project aims to create pedagogical resources and a replicable model for other colleges across UAL.
Scope for This Unit: For this ARP unit, the project focuses specifically on capturing 3D print waste and identifying recycling possibilities within the campus. Processes related to reprocessing and reusing 3D print waste will be explored in subsequent phases.
